Shared Facilities Building
Wellcome Trust
Location: Wellcome Genome Campus, Cambridge
Status: Completed
Area: 1,300 sqm
This refurbishment signifies the importance of interaction and collaboration between campus researchers. New staff and visitor facilities have been created including a library and café in the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute’s Sulston Laboratories building.
Set within a two-storey volume, molecule-clad ‘twisted boxes’ house meeting rooms and breakout spaces which align along vistas between the historic and modern sections of the Campus.
Over 100 molecules form a 3-dimensional pattern across the acoustic perforated metal wall panels.
The project was a Finalist in FX Interior’s annual Interior Design awards programme.
