Abell Nepp was the Science Area Advisor to the main contractor Laing O’Rourke, and provided technical expertise in reviewing tender packages and potential buildability concepts for the laboratories.

The role utilised the construction of an off-site mock-up of each of the laboratory types to review construction methodology.

At the time of completion, the £650m centre was Europe’s largest dedicated research building.
