MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences - Site Progress
The MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences building, at Imperial College London’s Hammersmith Campus, is progressing with enabling works with the removal of the existing 1950’s Cyclotron Building vault and diversion of electrical cables and drainage.
The eight-storey facility will support research in epigenetics, quantitative biology, genes and metabolism, along with super-resolution and cryo-electron microscopy imaging. The laboratories occupy approximately half of the total 12,000m² building area.
The construction works are complex with its narrow site shared with hospital buildings where access for emergency vehicles and deliveries will not be disrupted. A network of monitors is installed around the site boundary to track noise, vibration, and dust levels due to its proximity to the Burlington Danes Academy and Hammersmith Hospital.
The completion date is set for 2021.
